The MG Comet turns a lot of heads and there were many people asking about the car, the pricing.

MG Comet Charging

As far as charging goes, With a 3.3 kW AC home charger, the battery can be charged from 10-80% in approximately 5 hours. For 0-100% charging, it will approximately 7 hours. The Comet doesn’t support AC fast charging nor DC fast charging. Home charging is the only way to go. As mentioned earlier, MG claims a range of 230 km but in real time, I expect it to be between 160 to 170 km.

MG Comet Ride & Handling

The MG Comet features McPherson strut suspension at the front and multi-link coil suspension at the rear. The ride is quite compliant for a small city car. Small bumps and undulations are handled well. Big bumps and potholes however are felt sharply inside. As far as handling goes, this is a car meant to be driven in the city at moderate speeds. Spirited driving has no place here. I tried pushing it a bit into a turn and there was immediate understeer. I didn’t try getting more adventurous. What I love is the short turning radius. At just 4.2 metres, it takes U-turns easily in the narrowest of places. No need for three pointers here. The Comet gets disc brakes upfront and drums at the rear. Braking feels adequate in city conditions where I drove it. I cannot comment on what they perform like on the open road at the moment. I look forward to driving it in Mumbai soon.
